BESPOKE FAQ
How do I start the custom piece process?
Custom projects start with an initial consultation either in person, by phone or email to discuss your ideas & budget.
In person or zoom appointments are our preference, as we can share imagery & ideas more efficiently. Phone and email appointments are available if this is not an option. Appointments can be booked here.
How much do bespoke pieces cost?
There is a minimum cost of $1500 AUD for one-off unique pieces in gold.
Price varies a lot depending on the design, complexity & materials. You can set the budget, and the piece can be designed and materials selected to suit.
We understand setting a budget can be daunting & you may not know how much things cost. Jewellery materials vary hugely, so a ballpark budget of what you are comfortable spending helps us to narrow down and present you different options.
For a rough starting point, simple pieces in 9ct gold starts from $1500+, 14ct gold $2500+, 18ct gold $3500+.
If you simply want to make a minor modification to an existing design (eg, different stone colour or metal) this will be more cost effective & a faster turnaround.
I have a photo of a piece of jewellery from another designer I love- can you make it for me?
My bespoke process is strictly for unique one off pieces in my own style and aesthetic. You are welcome to share imagery of other pieces of jewellery as a reference of the materials, or specific details for inspiration, but I am not able to replicate another designers piece from an image.
How long do bespoke pieces take?
The initial design & discussion stage can take 2-6 weeks depending on the complexity and if we need to source any specific stones. Once a design is finalised & the deposit is paid, you can expect your piece to be completed within 4-6 weeks. If you have a date that you would like your bespoke piece made by, please let me know and I will try my best to work to your schedule.
Rush orders for urgent projects may be possible by request for an additional fee- please email for details.
Are bespoke jewels insured during transit?
Yes, our insurance covers all outgoing parcels from our studio to your door. All parcels require a signature on delivery.
Do you remodel old jewellery, or can I supply my own materials?
Gemstones & diamonds- mostly. Metals- no sorry.
I am happy to use your own gems & diamonds, or repurpose gemstones out of existing jewellery. Gemstones will need to be inspected in my studio to make sure they are in a suitable condition to use.
All care is taken, but due to the nature of removing and resetting gemstones from existing jewellery, there is a risk of stones being damaged in the process.
I am not able to reuse or ‘melt down’ customers gold in my pieces. This is because the casting process I use requires a special casting alloy to create a successful & good quality cast. Customers gold may include unknown metals or solders which can result in a poor quality cast.
Precious metals may be traded in for a credit towards a custom piece- this would require the gold being assessed and weighed in the studio.
Do you work with overseas clients?
Yes, absolutely. Meetings can be scheduled over the phone or zoom if required. I will keep you well informed with every step of the process via photos and videos. I can also courier your jewellery piece anywhere in the world, safely & insured.
For all New Zealand customers, all taxes & customs duties are included in our bespoke prices. For all other overseas destinations, taxes and duties are not included in our prices, and may be charged by your local customs authority upon importation into your country.
How do I find the correct ring size if I am purchasing a ring as a gift?
If you are able to measure the inside diameter of a ring they currently wear to the nearest mm, or take it to a jeweller to measure the size, this will help to get a good estimate of the ring size. Rings can be resized after purchase no problem, but it’s good to get as close to the size as possible.
Can I change or cancel my bespoke order?
Custom pieces are designed & made especially for you, based on your specifications. Once an order has been agreed upon, deposit paid and production has begun, custom orders can not be cancelled & deposits are strictly non-refundable.
Sometimes small alterations (eg, band thickness, adding texture) are possible during the wax carving process. Any significant changes to the design once production has begun may incur additional labour costs. You will always be notified of any additional costs before proceeding.
